Sarah G set to dazzle in film concert

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

Popstar Sarah Geronimo takes her audience to another level as she gives them “Tala: The Film Concert” which you can watch virtually tomorrow.

“One of the challenges of doing a concert like this is to be able to sustain the energy, just like when you’re performing for a live audience,” she shared.

The show’s concept is a collaborative effort with her team to mount a show in spite of the current situation. “We wanted to express our gratitude to everyone who has supported the song ‘Tala’ and to celebrate life and music.”

“Tala: The Film Concert” is a one-night only, exclusive event which will premiere worldwide this March 27 (Saturday) at 8 pm on Ktx.ph, iWantTFC, and SKY Pay-Per-View.

The two-hour film concert, named after the hit song “Tala”, showcases 18 songs including Sarah’s rendition of Rico Blanco’s “Your Universe”, and her new version of songs, “Ikot-ikot”, “Kilometro”, “Dulo”, and “Isa Pang Araw”.

Regular tickets are available at P1, 500 and VVIP tickets at P3, 000. Those who purchase VVIP tickets have the chance to meet and duet with Sarah via Zoom. Upon the announcement, VVIP tickets were sold out in just three days.

Due to insistent public demand, Viva Entertainment has released additional VVIP tickets. To purchase, log on to www.ktx.ph or call the Viva office at 8697-7236 for inquiries.

Sarah has been doing successful and ground-breaking concerts since 2004 and in her upcoming digital concert, her inspiration is to give them strength. “Focus on the positive things. Kumapit tayo sa magagandang bagay na na-experience natin,” she says.

In an exclusive interview with Pika-Pika, “Tala: The Film Concert” director Paul Basinillo shared that Sarah contributed a lot to this concert.

“The past three, four years — naging artist na si Sarah. Mainly because marami na siyang na-achieve eh, na-achieve na niya lahat. So siguro ito naman yung pino-focus niya, trying to make it work for her, and trying to incorporate her creative juices,” he added.

According to musical director Louie Ocampo, “She wants everything beautiful because she’s a perfectionist. She’s maturing very well. Her taste in music is growing also. Parang she’s opening a different side of her and she’s embracing it very well.”

“In this particular project, all of us have been challenged and all of us brought our creativity to the next level,” shares creative director Teacher Georcelle. The set design by Enzo Pizzaro and stage light by Shakira Villa-Symes are part of the package that will make Sarah dazzle on stage even more.

Aside from taking her performances to new heights, Sarah was fully involved in the pre-production stage in all aspects. As her husband Matteo Guidicelli shared on his Instagram post, “She worked extremely hard for this show because her goal was to really produce something extra special for her audience and I personally witnessed how she creatively collaborated with her team.”

Sarah never forgets to give credit to the whole creative team, saying, “Very cooperative lahat. Gusto talaga nilang maging successful itong project na ito.”

Karel Marquez is playing a kontrabida in the TV5 series “Paano ang Pangako” and she likes it.

“I can relate to the role because I am a mother. A mother will always be protective of her son. Kung nagiging kontrabida man ako, dahil iyon sa matinding pagmamahal ko sa anak ko. A mother would do anything for her son,” said Karel.

She treats Kyle Velino, who portrays her son, like her own. “I love him like I would love my own kid.”

Even if she had done many kontrabida roles, Karel says there is always a challenge doing another.

“You have to make it different from the last. Pero I must say my role in ‘Paano ang Pangako?’ as Karen Dominante-Cruz is one of my favorite among the many I’ve done.”

What makes the role interesting, says Karel, is that there is always a surprise connected to every scene she does. Sometimes there is a comic side to the role. She is also pleased that her cake scene with Beauty Gonzales went viral.

“We are happy that we have strong viewership going into our last two weeks. There are a lot of surprises in our finale,” she said.

The finale of “Paano ang Pangako?” will have a special marathon on April 3, Black Saturday, from 2 pm-7 pm on TV5.
