Xian Lim still traumatized by house burglary

Vanessa A. Balbuena - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Xian Lim doesn’t want to come across overly dramatic, but he admits to still feeling “pretty traumatized and scared” after at least four men broke into his family home early last month and carted off with valuable items such as television sets and a computer.

“Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na nangyari yun. It’s hard to accept,” the 31-year-old actor said when asked by The FREEMAN how he was after the burglary.

“After what happened, I was really thinking if I should make it public or not. Ikukwento ko ba sa publiko na nanakawan ako at napasok yung bahay namin? It took me a couple of days talking to my mom, my lola and I felt it was my responsibility as a public figure na ibahagi sa mga tao to be more careful. Nowadays ang daming nangangailangan and it’s an eye-opener that we live in a very dangerous place.”

Saying he can go on hours about the topic, Xian simply wants to advice others to take extra precautionS especially when the pandemic has left many in dire need.

“Ang mentality natin, okay lang, hindi yan mangyayari sa akin. Praning kasi ako na tao so the house is covered with metal bars and we have CCTV…pero papasukin talaga kayo kung gugustuhin ng tao. They will always find a way.”

On a lighter note, Xian said the public shouldn’t expect engagement news from him and girlfriend Kim Chiu anytime soon despite many showbiz couples announcing similar milestones recently.

“Actually maraming nagtatanong sa akin. Pero matagal pa ako eh. Matagal pa kami,” the star of Vivamax Original Series “Parang Kayo Pero Hindi” said. “There’s so many things that we want to accomplish, and I think wala pa sa time. Hindi pa namin napapag-usapan.”

Xian is gearing up for a new role, one that he’s wished for since starting out in the industry. He’ll be hosting “1000 Heartbeats: Pintig ng Pinoy,” an upcoming game show produced by Viva and set to air on TV5.

“I’m very grateful with all the projects Viva has given me. Nakakatuwa because I get to play around with my characters and I get to do different genres. Transitioning to becoming a game show TV host has been one of my dreams.”
