STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

A bright ray of hope is about to shine on Philippine television as Zoe Broadcasting Network Inc. announced the rebranding of Zoe Channel 11 as A2Z. Starting tomorrow, A2Z will be the home of the newest TV experience for Filipinos as it offers relevant, informative, and entertaining content geared towards spiritual strengthening.

The rebranded VHF channel will serve viewers with uplifting and inspiring shows of life, love and hope, educational programs, local and foreign movies, some of the best-loved ABS-CBN shows through a blocktime arrangement,  and programs from licensors like Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN Asia), Knowledge Channel and others. Some of the programs on Zoe’s Light TV 33 will also air on A2Z.

Sherwin N. Tugna, chairman and President of Zoe Broadcasting Network, Inc., said A2Z’s program line-up was assembled with the goal of fulfilling the spiritual, information, and entertainment needs of Filipinos during this pandemic and beyond.

“Zoe Channel 11 TV gets a new name, a new look, and a new journey serving God and the Filipino people. We strive to provide Filipinos with the best type of programming and bring glory to the Lord above,” he said.

A2Z can be viewed on Channel 11 on free TV via analog broadcast in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. It will also be available on many cable and satellite TV like Sky Cable (channel 11) and more. Zoe Broadcasting Network, Inc. was founded by Bro. Eddie Villanueva.

The COVID-19 crisis has backed many celebrities into a corner. Top EDM artist Jace Roque is one of the musicians forced to find a new way to make ends meet. Because restrictions to protect public health made it impossible to hold live events like concerts which is his bread and butter, Jace decided to venture into digital.

A friend put him in touch with the Yellow Ribbon Agency, a company that added Jace to their roster of live streamers on Bigo Live Philippines. At first he thought of it as a golden opportunity, but eventually being part of the streaming platform lost its appeal.

“On August 9, I became an official host of Bigo Live Philippines through one of its agencies, Yellow Ribbon Agency. First week palang it felt off-putting na. After I completed my required hours and days, I came to the conclusion that live streaming in general isn’t the right platform for me,” he says.

On Aug. 30, Jace talked to Nhoemie Sebastian, the secretary of his agency. Jace also got in touch with Arcii Sebastian Sy, the host agency manager of Yellow Ribbon Agency, to inform him that he wanted to leave Bigo Live Philippines and the agency’s roster of live streamers. But Arcii asked him to give streaming another try. Jace did, but to no avail.

“I gave the app another chance, but I still felt the same way about live streaming. So on Sept. 18, I contacted Arcii again and asked that my hosting agreement be terminated. On Sept. 25, I was removed from Yellow Ribbon Agency’s group chat with no prior notice. Nagulat ako kasi kahit ayoko na maging official host ng Bigo Live Philippines, gusto ko sana na maging maayos yung pag-alis ko. Wala akong masamang tinapay sa kahit sino sa former agency ko.”

Jace is aware that his ouster from the group chat can also mean he’s no longer part of the Yellow Ribbon Agency. “Proper notice lang sana ang gusto ko. Kasi bigla na lang nila akong inalis sa group chat, tapos hindi na nila ako binalikan tungkol sa termination request ko. Which is disappointing, kasi when I started with them, maayos yung usapan namin. Kaya gusto ko sana ganun din yung pag-alis ko. In any setting, corporate or showbiz, talagang may notice upon termination.

“In our current situation wherein artists are looking for opportunities to earn, we must continue to fight for what we deserve. Some are willing to endure anything, but I’m not like that. Unprofessionalism is something I will never stand for,” adds Jace.

Jace is eager to put Bigo Live Philippines and Yellow Ribbon Agency behind him. He is currently preparing to film the music video for his latest single “Forever,” which has earned over 600,000 streams on Facebook and is available on all digital music platforms.

He’s also cooking up something special for his supporters, so if you consider yourself one of them, watch his social media for updates.
