Indian produces Pinoy film ‘Karma’

An Indian national has taken notice of the Filipino film industry and is producing his first Pinoy film titled “Karma.”

Terence Cardoz, owner of Divine Line Production, is also known as Terry in both Bollywood and Hollywood. He is an international line producer and works very closely with worldwide film commissions, tourism boards, government authorities, embassies, consulates and airlines to support production houses for film shoots to any destination in the world. He is associated with the government in many international destinations.

Even though Terence is an Indian, he is based in the beautiful and exotic island of Mauritius. Terence is very instrumental in bringing Filipinos together in Mauritius and is the administrator of the Mauritius Filipino group which has more than 300 Filipino members. They even have Tagalog Church service twice a month and regular Filipino gatherings.

Terence has immense love for the Philippines. He speaks Tagalog fluently and is very fond of singing Tagalog songs. He is also a musician and plays the percussion. He loves jamming with Filipino musicians whenever he visits here.

He is currently associated with the film “Karma” as co-producer, hoping to give it an international audience so that Ricardo Catalan Jr., the film’s director and a close friend of Terence, can make bigger and more international films. To date, “Karma” has been nominated in several international film festivals and will be released in the Philippines by the end of this year.

Terence is currently coordinating for a Hollywood film as well as a web series to be shot in the Philippines. Once “Karma” is released here, he will be co-producing his next Filipino web series called “ALT-ONE,” an action drama shot in New York with a small portion in the Philippines, still by Catalan.

He got involved with “Karma” through Catalan (who also wrote and did the film’s casting), who asked him to be the co-producer. He has been visiting the Philippines for more than 10 years, so he is aware about Filipino films. He is also well-known in the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

“I find Filipino actors and actresses very down-to-earth and cooperative and my Filipino stars are my close friends,” said Terence.

The fans of “Gameboys” can’t get enough of the phenomenal BL series that took the Philippines and the world by storm. Featuring the now popular tandem of Kokoy de Santos and Elijah Santos, the web series ended its run a few weeks ago but it continues to be the topic in many Facebook and Twitter chat groups.

Its producer, the Idea First Company, had a change of plans. Instead of doing a movie, there will be a Season 2 to answer the clamor of fans. The movie will be shot in 2021 while production for Season 2 might start by yearend.

According to director Perci Intalan, one of the producers, they are still fixing the schedule since Kokoy and Elijah have other projects lined up.

In one Facebook fan group of “Gameboys,” there was a post that it will be shown on iWant/TFC. Direk Perci said there are no talks between The Idea First Company and iWant/TFC but he said they are open to any possibility. “Malay mo, magdilang-anghel pa rin siya,” he said.
