Aiko Melendez files libel charges against bfs opponent

Actress Aiko Melendez on Tuesday filed libel charges against Zambales vice governor Angelica “Angel” Magsaysay-Cheng before the Olongapo Regional Trial Court (Olongapo-RTC).

This stemmed from the move of the respondent in dragging Aiko’s name to drugs in a video shown during a public viewing at the height of the campaign.

Aiko is campaigning for her boyfriend Subic Mayor Jay Khonghun who is running for vice governor.

Mayor Jay and his father, Zambales First District Congressman Jeffrey Khonghun, were named as among the 46 local executives in the narco list revealed by President Duterte. This was vehemently denied by the Khonghuns.

Aiko said in her complaint that the accusation that she is into drugs caused her anxiety, fear, embarrassment, ridicule and public humiliation.

Said accusation caused damage to her reputation as she takes tests yearly to prove that she is not taking drugs. She also wants to set an example to fellow celebrities not to take drugs.

Last Sunday, Aiko posted several cryptic messages in her Facebook account. While she did not identify anybody, she mentioned the word vice governor in her posts.

She also took the chance to answer the issues leveled against her. It was then that she decided to file a case against the vice governor.

Seventeen-year-old showbiz newbie Kent Gonzales feels blessed he was chosen to play the role of Sharon Cuneta’s son in “Kuwaresma.”

He didn’t expect he’d be chosen for the part but he impressed director Erik Matti who found his acting raw but effective.

And he managed to hold his own against Sharon Cuneta even if he didn’t have any acting experience.

If ever people find his acting good for a newcomer, Kent wants to give credit to Sharon for making him feel at ease in their scenes and in supporting him.

“I felt Mommy Sharon is really like my mom in our scenes together. I was intimidated at first and who wouldn’t be but she was very warm and inspiring to be with,” Ken said.

For her part, Sharon praised Kent’s performance and his sister Pam who plays his twin in “Kuwaresma.”

“They are both talented and good actors. I hope they will stay level-headed and focused on their careers,” said the Megastar.

Produced by TBA Studios, “Tayo Sa Huling Buwan ng Taon” is a romantic drama about falling in love and finding yourself – and how, sometimes, those two may not mix well together.

“Tayo Sa Huling Buwan ng Taon” tells the story of an aspiring filmmaker (Nicco Manalo) and a writer Isa (Vera), former lovers who meet each other again five years after their breakup. They are now both with different partners. Sam is with his co-teacher, nurturing Anna (Anna Luna), and Isa with Frank (Alex Medina), a childhood friend who is willing to give up everything for her.

Sam and Isa try to be friends and attempt to find themselves in the realm of their respective romantic partners. But in the process, what they discover instead is pain and uncertainty as they come to terms with their feelings for each other and everyone around them.

The film is directed by Nestor Abrogena and is a follow-up to his indie film “Ang Kwento Nating Dalawa” which had a successful commercial run.

“Tayo sa Huling Buwan Ng Taon” boasts of excellent performances by the lead actors who display utmost sensitivity that one can’t help but be touched and relate to their journey. The movie is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
