CEBU, Philippines — Is there a new Showbiz Bad Boy?

Just when Kapuso actor Migo Adecer landed his first primetime TV leading man role and his first movie, the 19-year-old made headlines yesterday for his arrest Tuesday night after driving off in his Subaru BRZ despite hitting two victims aboard a motorcycle.

According to a report from ABS-CBN News, Migo (real name Douglas Errol Dreyfus Adecer) spent the night at the Makati City police station after a traffic encounter that led to two injured victims,

The Filipino-Australian was chased down by police along Barangay Poblacion in Makati City and was eventually cornered along N. Garcia St. He initially tried to evade arrest, backing into a patrol unit on his way.

The confrontation, recorded on video, showed Migo refusing to leave his car. He later on conceded.

The victims, identified by ABS-CBN News as Rogelio Formelos Castillano and Michelle Gallova Papin, were brought to a nearby hospital.

The report further quoted Police Colonel Rogelio Simon, chief of police of Makati City, that Migo seemed under the influence of alcohol.

"Halatang lango siya sa alak. Kinakausap namin, wala sa sarili. Nagsisigaw-sigaw," Simon told media.

Migo is currently facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries, damage of public property, and disobedience of person in authority.

Authorities are also looking into another incident involving Migo's driver’s license. According to police, the “StarStruck” winner was already given another citation for a traffic violation in Rockwell earlier that day, where he surrendered a different driver’s license that stated he was 25 years old.

The police are figuring out whether the license confiscated from him later in the evening could be fake.

Migo underwent inquest proceedings yesterday.

Marie Glen Abraham-Garduque, Migo’s lawyer, said that her client was not aware that he had collided with the motorcycle. She said Migo is also willing to shoulder the victims’ hospital bills.

"Ang initial statement niya sa akin is hindi niya alam na meron siya na sideswipe. Otherwise, sabi niya sa akin kung alam niya na meron siyang nasangi, he would stop," Garduque told ABS-CBN News.

GMA Artist Center, through GMA Network Corporate Communications head Angel Javier, issued the following statement: "GMA Artist Center is closely monitoring the incident involving Migo Adecer. He is willing to assist the two people injured and his lawyer is now coordinating with them., We defer to Migo’s lawyer to address all legal matters regarding this incident."

Born in Bacolod City and raised in Sydney, Australia, Migo joined the sixth season of GMA 7’s reality-talent show, “Starstruck,” in 2015 where he became the Ultimate Male Survivor.

The year after, Migo portrayed Anthony in the “Encantadia” remake. He has since appeared in shows like “The One That Got Away,” “Ika-5 Utos,” the Philippine adaptation of “My Love from the Star” and even did voice acting for Filipino anime series “Barangay 143."

In Cebu just last month to promote his current series, Migo is part “Sahaya," which premiered March 18. Starring Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali, the epic drama is his most major television role so far.

Initially eyed for the afternoon show “Inagaw Na Bituin,” Migo was instead transferred to “Sahaya" where he portrays the role of Jordan, a rich Manileno who “doesn’t know any better” and who will eventually vie for the lead’s heart.

He told Cebu press last month that his casting in “Sahaya” seems to be the network's way of giving him “a little bit more responsibility."

Migo was also recently announced as the third wheel to Kyline Alcantara and Manolo Pedrosa in an upcoming film titled "Black Lipstick." It will be his very first movie.

Asked by Pep.ph during the the film's story conference why he thinks he is suddenly being trusted with these breaks, the actor surmised, "I’m not too sure. I just made sure that no matter what, I’m gonna pull my weight. What’s expected of me, I’ll bring to the table.

“And if I can give more, then I will give more. I’ve just been inspired to take my job a lot more seriously. I want to show that, for the people who took a chance on me, maraming-maraming salamat talaga."

The actor added, "Their giving me work. So I want to see the business in a different light. I guess napansin po nung management na iba na yung mindset ko towards the job.”
