Award-winning actor Edgar Allan (EA) Guzman is quite busy these days. He is the leading man of comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto who is making her showbiz comeback via the movie “Bagyong Behverlynn,” directed by Bebs Gohetia and an entry to the 2018 Cinema One Originals.

“This is a feel-good movie. May hugot but there is also lots of comedy because Rufa Mae is the lead actress,” said EA when Star Circuit interviewed him at the presscon of Cinema One Originals early this week. “I play the role of Rufa Mae’s boyfriend who broke her heart. I accepted the role because the character is close to my real self. ‘Yung medyo mayabang at feeling pogi. In real life, minsan ganyan ako sa mga kaibigan ko. Feeling pogi tapos mapera.”

What did he like about role? “Kasi feeling pogi.Medyo mayabang at maangas. Pero ‘yung pagiging maangas ng karakter ko, hindi ka maiinis kundi matatawa ko. I haven’t done such kind of a role and I enjoyed myself so much,” added EA.

The movie is also EA’s first assignment with Bebs as his director. Direk Bebs was the editor of his award-winning Cinemalaya film “Ligo na U, Lapit Na Me” which won for him two acting awards: Best Actor both at Cinemalaya and the Golden Screen Awards.

“I had fun working with Direk Bebs. He is very respectful of his actors. If he likes your acting in a scene, he gives it his approval and he works fast. He is also very open to suggestions. Rufa Mae and I have a lot of adlibs but since these made the scenes better, okay na okay ‘yun kay direk Bebs. Good vibes ang movie. The atmosphere on the set was very light,” EA explained.

This is the second time that EA and Rufa Mae are working together. Their first project was “Ang Huling Henya” where they played siblings. In “Bagyong Behverlynn,” they play a couple who will break up.

“I am sure that many millennials like me (laughs) will be able to relate with the film. And I am playing a straight guy in the film who made his girlfriend cry. So this role in ‘Bagyong Bheverlynn’ is exciting for me and it fits my sense of humor too,” said EA.

This is probably EA’s busiest year yet. Good things came into place after he won awards for “Deadma Walking.”

“I just want to accept the flow of blessings which came after I won several acting awards. I just finished a new movie (“Man and Wife”) which is intended for the Metro Manila Film Festival. I am just waiting for the next offer to do a teleserye,” said the multiple best supporting actor for “Deadma Walking.”

Cinema One Originals runs from October 12-21.

Kapuso teen star Migo Adecer was the top winner at “Starstruck” three years ago but it is only now that his career is picking up. Aside from being a mainstay of GMA-7’s new musical variety show “Studio 7,” Migo is playing the male lead in “Barangay 143,” the first Filipino anime series.

Migo says the timing for his career to pick up is just right since when he joined “Starstruck,” he was not yet that serious with his career.

He is honored and flattered to be chosen as the lead actor in “Barangay 143” and there’s no turning back as he wants to maximize the opportunities coming his way.

“It took me three years to realize that I really want to be in showbiz. There’s no turning back now,” said the 18-year-old actor.

Migo had been watching anime since he was young and now that he’s part of “Barangay 143,” he is very excited that the show is set to premiere on Sunday, October 21, at 10 a.m. on GMA-7. He hopes youngsters like him who will watch “Barangay 143” will be encouraged by the good story it will present.

Migo had to brush up on his Tagalog because of the anime series. Voicing the first three episodes was kind of easy since his character’s lines were Taglish. Onwards, he has more lines in Tagalog so he really had to prepare.

Mico plays Bren Park, a young and rising basketball star in Korea who had to turn his back on things important to him after a major event changes his life forever. The search for answers leads Bren to Manila where he goes to live with his former nanny Tita Baby (Lorna Tolentino) in the gritty neighborhood of Barangay 143.

Migo also revealed that he is set to record his first single which he said will surprise his fans. He also wants to take on a new persona as a “bad boy” in showbiz since the boy-next-door-type is very crowded.
