Tom, Lovi, Erich deliver in sexy flick

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

We had a chance to watch “My Significant Other,” the latest offering from Cineko Productions, and we enjoyed the movie so much.

Congratulations to its writer Eric Ramos for a well-written script and for the able direction of Joel Lamangan.

The film works because of the good performances from its stars led by Lovi Poe, Tom Rodriguez and Erich Gonzales who managed to hold her own against Lovi.

There are many interesting scenes like Lovi arriving at Tom’s clinic unannounced and she discovers that Tom is having an affair. She was also good in that scene where she cooks caldereta for Tom and confronts him over dinner if he had been faithful and not tasted another dish other than her caldereta.

Tom is also good in his role as the unfaithful husband. He is certainly leading man material and we hope that GMA Network maximizes his potential. We liked that the movie ended on a positive note.

“The Significant Other” is now showing in cinemas nationwide.

After a long while comes a new movie from director Joselito Altarejos, better known as Jay Altarejos to his friends.

He had won Best Director at Cinemalaya for the movie “Kasal.” He was also the director of the controversial film “Ang Lihim ni Antonio” which starred former indie actor Kenjie Garcia, now a professor in a Bulacan state college.

Direk Jay’s new movie is titled “Tale of the Lost Boys” starring Oliver Aquino and Ta Su. This is the story of friendship between two guys named Alex, a Filipino mechanic and Jerry, a Taiwanese aborigine student.

They met when Alex went to Taipei after he got his girlfriend  pregnant. Their casual conversation developed into a surprising personal connection. They both learned that they are longing for an intimate connection with their respective mothers.

Alex’s mom left him for another family while Jerry is afraid that his traditional parents won’t be able to accept that he is gay.

The two men go on a road trip and end up at Jerry’s tribe. The trip eventually makes them reconnect with their mothers and both discover a certain sense of identity and freedom.
