Battle of Duranos for vice-gubernatorial slate in Danao City in KampanyaSerye

CEBU, Philippines - There are 32 members of the Durano family who are running for different offices in the region including incumbent Danao City mayor Ramon “Boy” Durano and former Danao City mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano. Which side will the Duranos take in the toss-up between Nito and Boy?

Broadcast journalist Rico Lucena probes on the long reign of the Durano clan in Cebu and finds out why brothers Nito and Boy ended up competing against each other for the vice-gubernatorial slate of Danao City this week in the newest edition of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs’ “KampanyaSerye” on “TV Patrol.” Among political families in Cebu, the Duranos have the biggest delegation this upcoming poll. How important is Cebu for national political candidates? According to data from the National Statistics Office, Cebu has a big voting population of 2.5 million. This is why political groups prioritize(s) the region in their campaign sorties as it composes a big chunk of the total voting population.

“KampanyaSerye,” a teleserye-like documentary that tackles and probes the stories behind campaign promises and rhetorics to bring out the issues that matter to the electorate and show the competencies of aspiring leaders.  It is part of ABS-CBN’s Halalan 2013 coverage that was launched one year before the May national elections and aims to educate voters who are set to elect a new batch of leaders.
