"Pilipinas Got Talent" winner Jovit Baldivino in first major concert

- Ricky L. Calderon -

"Pilipinas Got Talent" grand prizewinner Jovit Baldivino admitted that he got nervous when he learned that acoustic singer Nyoy Volante would be the musical director of his first solo concert titled “Faithfully” to be held at the Aliw Theater on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 8 pm.

But after talking to Nyoy and knowing what Nyoy plans to do with his musical arrangements, Jovit knew that he’s in good hands. “Nagkakaisa naman po ang mga ideas naming. Nagkasundo rin po kami ni Kuya Nyoy kasi siya po ang boss ko,” said Jovit.

How did Jovit feel when he learned that MJM Productions (owned by Edgar Mangahas) is gambling on him by producing his first major concert to be directed by Mr. Johnny Manahan?

Jovit, who also dreams of doing a major concert with his idol Arnel Pineda, doesn’t hide the fact that he’s feeling apprehensive at how his major concert would turn out. He’s afraid that people might not come and watch his show. Of course, since it’s his first time to have a concert of this magnitude, it’s understandable that he feels the jitters.

For his part, Nvoy Volante is also happy at the break given to him by MJM Productions to be Jovit Baldivino’s musical director for “Faithfully.”

He has been the musical director of his own concerts, but this time Nyoy is further spreading his wings. According to him, Jovit can do many things that’s why he came up with a wider range of arrangements for Jovit. “I believe in Jovit’s voice, talent and versatility,” said Nyoy.

He also shared that he met twice with Jovit to discuss his job as MD and what he wants Jovit to do. Those two days proved to be very fruitful for both of them. What Nyoy initially thought of as a hard job to do became easy after his meeting with Jovit. “He can easily get instructions, especially in terms of how I wanted the song arrangements to go. The audience will be in for a big surprise during the concert,” said Nyoy.

But he hastened to add that he won’t change Jovit’s singing style. “Ito ang talent na minahal sa kanya ng mga tao, at ito ang style na nagustuhan sa kanya. Tiyak na hahanapin sa kanya iyon ng mga tao.”

As mentioned above, Jovit will be joined by Kim Chiu (who will do a dance number), Yeng Constantino, Melai Cantiveros, Jason Francisco and Sam Milby in his first major concert.

"Faith-fully" is produced by MJM Productions and sponsored by Rejoice, Skechers, 103.5 Wow FM, Belo Medical Group, Papa J’s Whiches and Wings, Mary Rose Cargo, Gilmore Computer Shop, Eye Capture Photography and Ticketnet.

Since teen actresses Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes are playing the lead roles in the revival of the ABS-CBN pioneering teleserye "Mara Clara," we asked Kathryn how would she feel if she and Julia become rivals in real life?

"I don't want us to become rivals in real life. I'd rather that we end up as friends, as we actually are now," said Kathryn who played the young Jenny, the role played by Marian Rivera in "Endless Love," but is now getting her biggest break by essaying the character of Mara, the role that first made Judy Ann Santos famous.

She reiterated, "Julia and I are good friends. We started out together in 'Goin' Bulilit' where we became close and even if we are playing magkaaway in 'Mara Clara,' magkaibigan naman kami in real life. And we want it to stay that way."

Kathryn also said that they would like to emulate the beautiful friendship that their idols Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes have. The two are close friends in real life even though they have had played adversaries in movies and TV shows. She said that she and Julia promised to each other that they would remain friends even if their fans would see them as otherwise.

"Kahit na po may Team Mara at Team Clara na, happy po kaming dalawa ni Julia na maganda ang feedback ng viewers sa show namin," she said.
