Call center firm revives plans to provide free skills trainings

CEBU, Philippines — A homegrown call center firm is poised to revive plans in helping the government provide job opportunities for job seekers in rural areas.

Performance 360 Call Center founder Michael Cubos said in an interview yesterday that the company plans to partner with interested local government units (LGUs) to offer free trainings for job seekers or senior high graduates residing far from urban districts.

According to Cubos, this is the best time to pursue its original plan of expanding call center opportunities in rural areas, as work-from-home (WFH) has become the favored set up for most companies.

In 2016, the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) reached out to Performance 360 Call Center to start off the countryside call center training with the Rural Impact Sourcing of the Philippines (RISP).

Cubos said an outsourcing operation can easily start in a community using the existing platform of DICT to encourage local government units (LGU) in setting up facility to host the home-based outsourcing workers within their respective municipalities, and the expertise of RISP as manpower training arm.

This time, Cubos said the company may initiate to partner directly with LGUs or may reach out to job seekers in a particular, initially in the northern part of Cebu, from Liloan to Borbon.

The next tranche will be in the southern part of Cebu.

Cubos, who is also the vice president for mobility in the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), said with a lot of people now out of work, it is high time for companies like his, to initiate training programs.

The demand for outsourcing jobs continued to rise in this pandemic season, as companies all over the world prefer to outsource some of their operations to save cost.

According to Cubos, training modules that would be offered include customer service, English language fluency, as well as cultural familiarization, among others.
