Attractive travel packages likely after vaccine rollout

Ehda M. Dagooc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Affordable and attractive packages for vacations and staycations in all destinations around the country are expected to be launched by stakeholders particularly after people are vaccinated.

This is the projection made by Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu (HRRAC) president Alfred Reyes amid fears that the change of lifestyle post pandemic would affect the market’s appetite to travel.

He said that as long as the confidence to travel is not yet on its full swing, accommodation packages continue to be attractive.

“Until the demand is sustained, the market will expect low and attractive packages here and there,” he said.

Aside from leisure travelers, including families and group of friends who are saving up to relax and enjoy, MICE (meetings, incentive, conference and exhibit) events are also expected to re-open most probably by 2023.

With the start of vaccine deployment, Reyes expects that tourism is seeing recovery. Hotels, as well as other tourism establishments are now preparing for the recovery.

Reyes believes that people around the world are also preparing to travel to their favorite destinations. The Philippines, he said will benefit in this resurgence of travel.

He hopes that the Philippines will tweak its branding “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” and add more spice to it to meet the new normal lifestyle.
