Sacred Heart Center finishes renovations

FOR CEBU By Ehda M. Dagooc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Events and sports entertainment facility Sacred Heart Center completed its one-year renovation program to keep up with the times.

The 43-year-old facility, owned by the Jesuit Sacred Heart Church and private stockholders who are mostly parishioners, now has seven function rooms that can accommodate from a minimum of 50 to a maximum of 950 persons.

Managed by the Sacred Heart Parish Ladies Association Inc., led by Cristina Lo, the center’s first renovation move was prompted due to the stiff competition of newer facilities within the city, taking advantage of Cebu’s lucrative market for events and conventions.

“We renovated and expanded the Sacred Heart Center to adapt to the changing times,” explained Lo, adding that with the improved facilities, the Center hopes to attract more guests and events.

Sacred Heart Center’s profit directly goes back to the community, with its numerous outreach programs scheduled all-year-round.

The renovation expenses are coming from donations from parishioners and private stakeholders.

The Center also now has improved sports facilities—the swimming pool, basketball court and an indoor gym.

The newest addition is Café Cristina, a coffee shop with two meeting rooms that can accommodate 15 to 20 persons each. Aside from its regular all-time-favorites, it now serves all-day breakfast, other meals, desserts and beverages.

The group also supports other social projects such as visiting of the sick, free catechism for non-sectarian schools, mass weddings, activities for the youth and projects that support the ministry of the Sacred Heart Parish.

The Sacred Heart Center Inc. is also supported by members of the Sacred Heart Parish Association Inc. and Sacred Heart Parish Ladies’ Association Inc.

The newly renovated center was formally inaugurated on December 3, 2019.
