MSMEs to take center stage in CBM 2020

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Business Month (CBM 2020) will introduce a breakthrough next year, showcasing the fruits of the annual business event in the last 23 years.

Bannering the theme “Bring It On”, CBM 2020 overall chairman Michael Cubos said next year is a different month-long CBM celebration, as micro entrepreneurs and Cebuano businesses will showcase what they got.

“It is an invitation for MSMEs to come out and showcase what they got!,” said Cubos in an interview.

In the last 23 years since the inception of CBM, program pattern had been always conferences, forum, summit and discussions on “how to’s”. It is time to change it, Cubos said.

“Enough of the one-sided type of events,” said Cubos explaining that this time, it is the opportunity for MSMEs to shine.

MSMEs are expected to bring to the table what they have been reaping from the previous CBM events, especially in the recent years when focus on innovation was being magnified.

In 2017, CBM carried the theme “Innovate Cebu” and last year it went on focusing on “Innovation in Action”. Cubos said businesses perhaps have enough of this event style. While it is recommendable, the call now is to get inspiration from entrepreneurs who are responding well to the call to innovate.

While some are still trying to catch up with the speed of technology innovation, bigger players will also be called to play as “big brothers” so that nobody will be left behind.

The CBM 2020, is the first Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI)flagship event that will be entirely led by younger batch of business leaders in Cebu.

The month-long event will also showcase the latest in technology such automating the summit through facial recognition tools, paperless collaterals, among others.
