CEB seat sales drive more people to travel

Carlo Lorenciana - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu Pacific has encouraged more people to travel out of Cebu as the airline firm pushes for increased tourism movements in the country.

“It’s really pushing for people to travel outside Manila because we have direct flights from other provincial hubs like Cebu,” Blessie Cruz, director for marketing, said in an interview Thursday at the launch of the budget carrier’s CEB Super Seat Fest taking place in March for its anniversary.

Cruz said the seat sales are two-way.

They sell seats for Filipinos to go out of the Philippines or travel around the country. And it’s also giving seat sales for strong international markets such as Korea, Japan and other countries.

Cruz said that seat sales enable more travelers to move around, thus supporting tourism.

From Cebu, the Gokongwei-led carrier flies to 21 domestic and five international destinations.

She noted Cebu remains a key priority hub of the company, citing the plan to increase its flights out of Cebu by 20% this year.

Cebu is also now being pushed as the main entry point to the Visayas and Mindanao, she said.

Cruz announced the March promo is the company’s biggest so far with over one million seats and deals are up for grabs in the whole month of March.

The airline will introduce group promo fares for the first time, up to P100 off on inflight meals, 40% discount on baggage allowance, and up to 42% discount on hotel partner rates.

The sale will start from March 1 to March 31, 2019.
