CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced the roll out of OTOP (One Town, One Product) Philippines Hubs in the country and that a Cebu facility will be opened soon.

DTI-7 regional director Aster Caberte said the opening of more OTOP hubs is underway, and these hubs will be situated in identified tourism zones across the country.

Initially, Bohol has been identified as one of the top priorities to host an OTOP hub. Cebu will follow suit after the formal opening of the Go Lokal Store in Ayala Center Cebu.OTOP Philippines Hub provides the physical and online channels and market access platform where OTOP products – especially those that has been assisted via product development – are showcased on a day-to-day basis

Meanwhile, Cebu will have to focus first on the establishment of its first “Go Lokal!” Store, wherein a soft opening has been set on September 10 at Ayala Center Cebu’s New Wing, fronting Rustan’s Department Store.

Caberte said this would be the first branch outside Metro Manila.

Go Lokal! is a retail concept store which displays high quality and innovative Philippine-made products, developed, crafted, designed, produced by micro, small and medium entrepreneurs and artisans.

Caberte expects that the opening of the Go Lokal! Cebu will boost the travel retail industry here, while it gives wider souvenir options to tourists.

This time, Cebu’s souvenir product options will no longer be limited to conventional items like t-shirts, key chain, ref magnets, among others, but also Cebu’s pride of artistry in design featuring high end fashion accessories, home decors, and export quality delicacies.

The store is also seen to perk-up Cebu’s known image in the creative and design capabilities as the products that will be featured in the store boasts of Filipino craftsmanship and ingenuity.

“This will be a different concept. It will highlight our export quality, high-end products,” Caberte said.

Go Lokal! carries everyday products made from indigenous materials with world-class and modern twists, processed food, home decor, arts and crafts, health and wellness products, fashion apparel, accessories, and health and eco-friendly items.
