Mandaue takes solo lead in Governor's Cup volley

CEBU, Philippines — Mandaue City survived a scare from Catmon to take the solo lead in the North Division of the 2018 Cebu Governor's Cup Inter-Cities and Municipalities Under-18 Developmental Volleyball Tournament yesterday at the Medellin Municipal gym.

Mandaue belles notched their third straight victory in the quarterfinals after a thrilling three-setter, 25-15, 6-25, 25-22. The handed Catmon its first defeat in three games in the playoffs.

With the win, Mandaue's chance at the finals slot looked bright.

Danao City, for its part, defeated Tabogon 17-25, 25-17, 25-23, to grab its victory. Danao now holds a 1-2 win-loss record while Tabogon is still winless with 0-3. Liloan also pounded home team Medellin, 25-14, 25-18, for its second win.
