CEBU, Philippines — Construction of the P8 billion JPark Island Resort Panglao will officially start next month to commence the company's move to establish a chain of hotels in the country.

Owned and operated by Cebuano-owned BXT Corporation, the 24-hectare JPark Island Resort Panglao, will have its ceremonial ground breaking on April 7, 2018, announced BXT president Justin Uy.

Uy expressed his high confidence in tourism in the Philippines in general, and this sector he believes would drive an accelerating economic growth in tourism destinations like Bohol and Cebu.

The company, he reported is enjoying brisk occupancy rate in its flagship property, JPark Island Resort Mactan and Spa, fueled by the influx of Chinese travelers.

Set to be completed in the next five years, JPark Island Resort Panglao is envisioned to offer initially 1,200 room accommodations with big convention facility that will be able to host least 1,600 people at one time.

Because of the promising outlook in tourism, specifically in Bohol, Uy said the project will be constructed double-time and that even before the five-year completion target, the resort shall be able to operate already.

The company acquired a 24-hectare property on the Island, which according to Uy, the sprawling property allows them to build facilities that that would complement the robust business and leisure markets combined.

The building of Panglao property signals the company's aggressive and bigger plans for the hospitality sector.

Uy, deemed as the country’s Mango King, believes the country's promising future for tourism.

The opening of the Mactan International Airport Terminal 2 will serve as a gateway for tourists all over the world to explore Visayas and Mindanao.

Resort projects in Palawan and other islands in the Philippines are also under negotiations, added Uy. (FREEMAN)
