Consultancy firm eyes local schools for international internship program
CEBU, Philippines - A company is now partnering with interested schools and universities for international training and internship programs to help college students and recent graduates acquire international experience in their fields of study.
POEC Consultancy International Inc. (POEC), an international internship specialist, was established with an aim to introduce the students and young professionals the opportunity of learning abroad through internship or practical training program in order for them to be globally competitive, according to a statement.
“We want to make a difference in their lives by giving them the experience of a lifetime that they may be able to share to their fellow students and co-workers when they go back.”
One of POEC’s programs is the USA Internship, which allows students and young professionals up to 34 years old to gain international knowledge and understanding about the business in the US . Duration of the program is from 12 to 18 months. Participants will receive a stipend of $7 to $12 per hour to cover the cost of living while they are training.
UC-main’s college of Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) is one of POEC’s recent partners. The school plans to send this year three of its graduating HRM students to the US for a five-month internship with a hotel in the said country.
The other programs include the Australia-hospitality internship for those that want to gain practical experience in Australia’s hospitality industry; internship in New Zealand; Internship in China and UK Sandwich Course, which allows nurses, nursing aid, caregiver, students of business courses, hospitality and tourism, finance and accounting to gain higher international diploma while practicing their expertise.
