MANILA, Philippines — Beyond serving the communications and connectivity needs of Filipinos, Globe continues to lead the country’s charge towards digital transformation by providing Philippine enterprises with cost-effective digital solutions.

In a roundtable discussion, Peter Maquera, Globe senior vice president for the enterprise group, shared the company’s diversification of its portfolio of solutions and companies that seek to cover the needs of the “new Filipino customer.”

“We’re not really leaving telco, we’re just looking at the things that go with telco, and how we can also support and drive digital adoption and be part in taking the Philippines to the fourth industrial revolution,” Maquera said.

The new Filipino customer

The pandemic has greatly accelerated the country’s shift to digital. With Filipinos staying at home, we have become more dependent on digital to bank, to run business operations, buy essential goods and even learn remotely.

In a survey cited by Maquera, 95% of new digital customers in the Philippines will continue to use at least one digital service post-pandemic. Additionally, information and communications technology spending in the country and globally is also expected to continuously grow.

On the other hand, the availability of high-speed internet through the advent of 5G and Filipinos’ heavy social media use are also driving growth in the country’s data consumption.

With this growth, digital adoption is now expected to rapidly accelerate in the coming years—- creating a greater need for resilient infrastructures, scalable platforms and intelligent data-driven technologies for enterprises.

Not just a telco

As Filipinos face this new reality, Globe refocuses its efforts to bring solutions that will address the demands brought by the current time

Once exclusively a telco business, Globe now looks forward to arm enterprises in challenges they face. It also eyes being a trusted business advisor for companies’ digital transformation.

To make this happen, Globe has been working on a suite of customer-driven solutions that will help companies in their digital transformation and digital resilience:

1. Edge data centers

Due to increase in compute-intensive technologies like Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), there is a growing demand for data centers to move closer to the “Edge” (to the client and where data is generated) to allow for more robust connectivity to meet both enterprise and consumer needs.

Businesses can ease their worries on day-to-day operations by outsourcing their data center hosting and management with Globe’s data centers that can offer increased security and privacy, and decreased latency, which are critical in businesses’ operations today.

2. Software-defined Wide Area Network (SD -WAN)

Another project globe is banking on is SD-WAN which connects a company’s multiple branches for real-time access to information and more. Globe has several cost-effective SD-WAN plans for businesses.

SD-WAN’s software-defined aspect can now give customers the power to have visibility of what’s happening in their circuit. They can prevent other sites and traffic from going through, whitelist certain sites to prioritize traffic, and also allows to shift where the traffic goes.

3. Cloud solutions

Having the largest Cloud operations in the Philippines and having over 100 enterprise customers, Globe Business and its partner Cascadeo are well-equipped with multi-cloud expertise to lead enterprises in addressing different business challenges.

With Cascadeo, Globe now offers a complete suite of cloud-native services to help businesses deploy a secure remote workplace for their employees and enable seamless collaboration anytime, anywhere.

4. Cybersecurity solutions

According to Globe, migrating to cloud gives businesses agility, but the problem is that it also totally changes your threat exposure. With remote working, systems are now outside the offices and you now need to protect your business everywhere.

Partnered with the best global cybersecurity providers, Globe now offers best-in-class cybersecurity solutions and services that help enterprises defend themselves from m
cyber threats.

5. Edge computing, IoT and 5G

Globe amps up its edge computing and 5G services as they reimagine how these technologies will lead to the creation of intelligent enterprises in the future.

When 5G and IoT services are combined, businesses can experience ultra-fast speeds, lower latency connectivity, which results in a change in the interaction between data, technologies, and users. This will bring a synergy that simplifies collaboration and management within industries.

No customer left behind

As a consumer service company, Globe believes that anticipating the needs of customers drives the solutions they offer and innovate. Hence, the reason why they’re going beyond being a telco company.

“It starts with understanding how the customers have changed, and anticipating their needs. A big company needs to digitally transform, and we wanted to be their trusted advisor,” Maquera said

“Being customer-driven and customer-first, we have our customers’ best interests and needs at heart. This is why we anchor our digital transformation strategies and infrastructure on the customer and how they change—and in doing so, we keep our promise of digital inclusivity where no man gets left behind,” he concluded.
