Manufacturer enjoys waste reduction and power efficiency after one surprising move
MANILA, Philippines — More than two years after a fire engulfed the factory of foam manufacturer Betafoam Corp., Meralco Biz’s technical assistance allowed the insulation and specialty-packaging maker to maintain a reliable power system and energy-efficient factory floor.
“In late 2014 when we rebuilt our factory, we consulted with Meralco Biz for our power needs. They helped us understand the right power requirements and electrical load. This reduced the cost of wiring and other electrical facilities,” explains Gregory Marañon, president of Betafoam Corp.

Because of the redesigned power systems, Betafoam manufacturing operations became more efficient, resulting in further benefits.
“Our power-intensive equipment consumes about 150-200 kWh and we run our machines 40 to 50 hours per cycle so it’s important to have uninterrupted power supply. Our close coordination with Meralco ensures uninterrupted manufacturing process that avoids the wastage of expensive raw materials,” Marañon emphasized.
