Stay connected all the time, and fast

Stay connected all the time, and fast

MANILA, Philippines — I have often seen people complaining about their connections on Twitter. No, I don’t mean “political connections,” although there are a few complaints in that department. I mean Internet connections.

I’ve been a victim of bad connections, too. I mean, of the Internet kind.

Why?

Well, for starters, “fast” is not fast enough nowadays.

At home, for example, I have well-installed Internet connections, but these still dependent on the provider.

Through the years that I have used the Internet, I have often been told by my provider that the broadband connection must be reliable.

This means that WiFi coverage has to be well-placed all over my house so that the router can reach most spots.

Family first

Nowadays, WiFi powers various aspects of the home – entertainment, education, work, business and security, to name a few. And when we’re at home, our WiFi has to work or dead we are.

To my family at home, this means that to maximize our home WiFi connection and avoid signal dead spots, it is important to understand how WiFi works.

Let me try to point out here some important things to note when making a WiFi connection. As all WiFi users must know by now, a strong and consistent connection at home does not just depend on Internet speed. You knew that, right?

Some of the other factors that can affect the quality of connection (I have learned this the hard way) include the size of your home or possible obstructions that block the WiFi signal. WiFi can also be slowed down by the number of users connecting to it, and the kind of online activity by the users.

I know this because just like most homeowners, we troubleshoot on our own. At home, I have found that the most important solution to WiFi dead spots would be to get a mesh networking system. A mesh networking system not only works for us, it is reliable, too.

If it’s not mesh, it won’t work

My research has taught me that mesh networks are a more advanced and smart solution to eliminate dead spots at home, since dead spots are a no-no.

Mesh networks consist of multiple relays that connect with one another and quickly direct signal among devices.  It is also connected to a single network, which intelligently connects you to the best node.

This means if you are using several WiFi connections at home, what the mesh network does is to make sure that you are always connected to the strongest connection at the time.

Why?

Mesh networks offer better coverage by not relying on just one router to broadcast the signal throughout the entire home.

There is also no main access point in a mesh network. This means that if you encounter a problem with one node, it can be easily replaced by another node.

Best of all, you can customize your own mesh network as needed. You can add more or take away nodes depending on the size of your home and your family’s online needs.

So, go ahead get a mesh network and try it out for yourself – don’t just take my word for it.

I just want you to know that I am puttering in the garden as I send this story to my office email.

Email sent. Best connection made.
