Climate adaptation expo set in November

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Climate Change Commission (CCC) will organize in November an expo seeking to promote climate change adaptation in the country.

The expo, scheduled from Nov. 19 to 23 at the Philippine International Convention Center, will be held alongside the second national convention on climate change and disaster risk reduction.

It will be held in time for the observance of climate change consciousness week.

The CCC said the two events aim to move climate action forward by showcasing successful local practices and promoting solutions across communities and sectors.

“These two events will be comprised of plenary and demonstration sessions, offering a platform to share practical information on successful adaptation approaches, programs and technologies,” it added.

The climate body has opened applications for exhibition proposals from national government agencies, local governments, development partners, non-government organizations and the private sector.

Proposals should focus on the overarching theme of resilience, covering topics such as community-based adaptation, early warning systems, resilient livelihoods, food and agriculture, local risk governance, local policies and plans, renewable energy projects, implementation of environmental laws, urban planning and resilient infrastructure.

“Companies and groups are also given the opportunity to showcase green products,” it said.

CCC said there is no charge for the exhibition space and no commission on sales.

Proposals may be accepted until Aug. 31.
