Mitsubishi Motors PH announces Safety Inspection Campaign for Lancer Evolution, Lancer EX models

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) recently announced to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that it will conduct a safety inspection campaign on the Lancer Evolution and Lancer EX 2.0 models, as part of the campaign announced by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC).

The campaign is to inspect and replace if needed, the Mitsubishi Electronic Time and Alarm Control System (ETACS) electronic control unit (ECU). Some batches of the ETACS ECU are suspected to have improperly manufactured electronic parts which may result to the headlights turning off and/or the windshield wiper becoming inoperable while the vehicle is in use.

The inspection and or replacement procedure of the ETACS ECU is estimated to take an hour and is free of charge. Included in this safety inspection campaign are six (6) units of Lancer Evolution model years 2009 to 2010 and 1,825 units of Lancer EX 2.0 and Lancer EX Ralliart model years 2009 to 2011.

Although there has been no reported failures and or incidents nationwide related to the above, MMPC was directed by its principal, MMC, Japan to conduct this safety inspection campaign. MMPC also informed the Office of Secretary Gregory Domingo of DTI of this inspection campaign.

Yoshiaki Kato, president and CEO of MMPC sincerely apologizes to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused by this safety inspection campaign. He said that all the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines service centers nationwide are ready to attend to these vehicles.

MMPC will be issuing out the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of all units potentially affected by this campaign on MMPC’s website under the latest news page (www.mmpc.ph/latestnews/lancer-safety-campaign.html).  All Service Centers nationwide are also ready and capable to attend to customer’s inquiry and concerns.

To ensure smooth servicing, customers may call their Mitsubishi Motors dealership to schedule the servicing of their unit. For additional concerns and inquiries, customers can get in touch with MMPC Customer Care Center at telephone numbers (+632) 250-8888 Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm.
