Philippine an ideal place for e-commerce to thrive â report

MANILA, Philippines — Online businesses in the country are on the upswing with growth a clear reflection of the growing number of people doing their shopping online, according to a report by CNN Philippines.

There are around 65 million Filipinos who were active online in 2018, representing a 12 percent growth. The country also ranked first in the world in terms of social media use and amount of time spent online.

Businesses believe this makes the country an ideal place for e-commerce to thrive.

In a report released by Statista, the Philippine e-commerce market revenue grew to $840 million or about P44 trillion in 2018 from $688 million or about P36 trillion in 2017.

While these trends spell good news for would-be entrepreneurs, a successful online business cannot be built on just one aspect of the enterprise. True, a superior product is paramount to ensuring a lucrative digital marketplace. However, a wise entrepreneur is fully aware that there are other factors that can make or break an online business.

A good product is just one part of the equation of a successful digital business. Having the right delivery partner is as important as having a good product. The delivery partner must be reliable, efficient and most importantly, fast when sending the products to the customers. Aside from that, it must have as extensive a reach as possible if the product being delivered is to reach its customers no matter where they are and no matter what time of the day.

It is also important that the delivery company chosen is able to track the item as it moved from the seller to the buyer. That is why an efficient tracking system is needed by the courier partner. Finally, having helpful and reliable customer service team will make all the difference in ensuring a happy and repeat customer.
