British Chamber and Philippine Embassy in London Pleased with Pork Tariff Extension and Meat Trade Mission

On the 30th of May 2022, British Chamber of Commerce Philippines Executive Director and Trustee, Chris Nelson and Ambassador Lagdameo were pleased with the recent outcome of the Philippine-British Meat Trade Mission as well as the issuance of Executive Order 171 extending low pork import tariffs in the country.

Both Nelson and Lagdameo first discussed the Meat Trade Mission, a three-day event hosted by the British Chamber last 17-19 May, attended by British meat suppliers, Philippine meat import companies, industry leaders, and key government officials.

The Mission offered the British meat suppliers the opportunity to expand their reach in the Philippines as well as help deepen their long-term partnerships with Philippine importers.

Both Nelson and Ambassador Lagdameo tackled the approved extension granted by the outgoing administration for lowering tariffs on pork imports until 31st December 2022.

Through the success of the trade mission, both Nelson and Lagdameo acknowledged the event’s contribution to the extension grant along with the continuous efforts of the Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc (PAMPI) to push for the extension.

The British Chamber aims to continue its advocacy to help promote and further strengthen the Philippine and UK business relations through trade and investment such as spearheading future trade missions vital for increasing business opportunities for both countries.
