Aurora pushes bid to become water, investment hub in RP
MANILA, Philippines - Officials of Aurora province have started working to pursue the goals set recently at a conference on water supply and sanitation held in Baler.
Gov. Bellaflor Angara Castillo said the conference has aroused the interest of the province on its potential as the country’s water supply and investments hub.
The Baler meeting was the first such conference in the country. Technical pool of experts from all over the world and academicians from the University of the Philippines joined the event to find solutions to a potential water crisis in the country.
Castillo said they are starting to establish serious relationships with civic communities and non-government organizations in a bid to unify Aurora in its bid to achieve the objectives of the conference for the province.
“Aurora has never been this upbeat on a particular program before. The recent conference was an eye-opener for the province and everybody is upbeat on the very good possibilities,” Castillo said.
In Baler, mayor Arthur Angara rallied the business community to consolidate support for the program which is seen to attract massive investments and turn the town into a prime model for achieving water security with the possibility of exporting water to nearby areas.
The conference was sponsored by the Congressional Commission and Science, Technology, and Engineering (CONMSTE) headed by Sen. Egardo Angara.
