Ayala completes P351 million deal to hike stake in iPeople

MANILA, Philippines — Ayala Corp., the country’s oldest conglomerate, has raised its stake in its listed education joint venture with the Yuchengco Group.
In a stock exchange filing, Ayala said it has completed its acquisition of 29.24 million shares in iPeople Inc. from A. Soriano Corp. for around P351 million, which was done through a special block sale on the Philippine Stock Exchange.
Ayala said the transaction was cleared by the Philippine Competition Commission on July 29, 2025.
The acquisition increased Ayala’s stake in iPeople to 36.3 percent from the previous 33.5 percent.
iPeople is a holding company under House of Investments Inc. of the Yuchengco Group of Companies and Ayala, with focus on investments in the education sector.
In 2018, House of Investments, Ayala and AC Education signed definitive agreements for the merger of AC Education with iPeople.
Listed iPeople was the surviving entity post merger, with House of Investments and Ayala controlling 51.3 percent and 33.5 percent, respectively.
iPeople said the company is highly supportive of the Philippine government’s thrust to improve education of the Filipinos.
