Vietnamese firm building P893 million solar farm in Bataan

MANILA, Philippines — Vietnam-based CN Green Roof Asia (CNGRA) has broken ground on its P893-million solar project in Hermosa, Bataan.
With a peak capacity of 22.79 megawatts (MW), the Solana Solar Beta Project is targeted for completion later this year, generating about 32.8 gigawatt-hours of clean power annually.
“This project is a testament to what strong partnerships can achieve. Together with our local collaborators, we’re building a more sustainable energy ecosystem that benefits communities now and for generations to come,” CNGRA CEO Rob Santler said.
CNGRA COO Steve Rawles, meanwhile, said the solar facility is envisioned to create “long-term value for people, planet and progress.”
The project, CNGRA’s first investment in the Philippines, is expected to displace around 14,053 tons of carbon emissions per year and provide over 100 jobs during the construction stage.
Aside from Solana Solar, the company is also actively looking at other local green projects to support the country’s target of expanding the share of renewables in the energy mix.
“We’re proud to bring our global expertise to the Philippines and help accelerate its clean energy goals,” Rawles said.
CNGRA earlier announced plans to invest around P10 billion to develop a pipeline of large-scale green energy projects in the Philippines.
The company intends to build a capacity of up to 300-MW of solar farms and integrated battery energy storage system projects.
Established in 2021, CNGRA is a joint venture between Climate Fund Managers, a blended finance investment manager, and Norfund, the Norwegian government’s investment fund for developing countries.
