MANILA, Philippines — Metro Pacific Health Corp. (MPH)’s buying spree continues, expanding its hospital network with the acquisition of its 27th hospital.

MPH, the healthcare arm of conglomerate Metro Pacific Investments Corp., has completed its investment in City of General Trias Doctors Medical Center Inc. (Gentri Docs).

MPH president Augie Palisoc Jr. said the investment in Gentri Docs is its 16th provincial partnership and the second in the province of Cavite in just a little over a year.

“We are grateful for the growing trust from doctors and hospital owners from all over the country who have chosen to partner with MPH, allowing us to further develop and expand their service offerings to their respective communities,” Palisoc said.

From its first investment in Makati Medical Center in 2007, MPH has since grown to be the largest private hospital group in the country, now with 27 hospitals.

MPH now has 11 hospitals in the National Capital Region, the latest of which is its investment in Diliman Doctors Hospital last month, eight hospitals in North and South Luzon, two in the Visayas and six in Mindanao.

Its current hospital network features approximately 4,400 beds, 11,000 doctors and 16,000 healthcare staff to take care of 4.2 million patients a year.

“As our network expands, we are attracting more hospital owners eager to collaborate with us, probably because of the marked improvements they see in the hospitals MPH invests in,” Palisoc said.

MPH, under the leadership of chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, has continuously sought to enhance healthcare accessibility and excellence in the country.

The company said its newly acquired hospital is strategically located along Governor’s Drive in General Trias.

It is also two kilometers away from the Cavite-Laguna Expressway Governor’s Drive toll exit, which is expected to open in the first quarter of 2025, presenting an opportunity to increase its vehicular access from more cities in Cavite.

As in its other investments, MPH said it has studied and laid out ambitious plans for Gentri Docs to unlock its full potential.

MPH likewise aims to enhance operational efficiencies and patient care standards of the hospital, ensuring that the patient community receives the highest quality services.

“The transaction between the City of General Trias Doctors Medical Center and MPH will undoubtedly benefit both parties and the patients we serve,” Ricardo Beroncal, former president of Gentri Docs and one of its lead founders, said.
