Toyota to roll out new Veloz subcompact SUV

Louella Desiderio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) is expanding its vehicle lineup with the rollout of the new subcompact sport utility vehicle (SUV) Veloz next week.

The automotive firm said in a statement yesterday the Veloz would be launched on April 29.

The new vehicle is being introduced to cater to the needs of Filipino consumers amid the continuous reopening of the economy and travel destinations.

TMP is targeting customers looking for a vehicle to use with family members and friends for the Veloz.

“The upcoming introduction of the all-new Veloz marks another milestone for Toyota in the Philippines,” said Sherwin Chualim, first vice president for vehicle sales operations at TMP.

“Previously known as the top grade variant of the Avanza compact MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) range, the Veloz has evolved to become a new standalone brand ready to claim its position as a sub-compact SUV of choice for customers seeking new adventures,” he said.

The Veloz will be available at a price starting at P1.185 million.

Authorized Toyota dealers will start accepting reservations for the Veloz on April 23.

Customers can learn more about the Veloz during the launch through TMP’s Facebook and YouTube accounts.

They can also visit the grand mall display at the BGC Amphitheater from April 29 to May 1, or check out the displays at Toyota dealerships starting April 29.

As of end-March, TMP’s total vehicle sales went up 12.5 percent to 37,230 units from 33,095 units in the same period last year.

Last year, TMP’s total sales reached 129,667 units, 29.6 percent higher than the 100,019 units in 2020.
