Sojitz eyes sales of 10,000 units this year

MANILA, Philippines — The local distributor of Geely vehicles aims to sell more than 10,000 units this year, according to its new president and CEO Yugo Kiyofuji.

He assumed the post previously held by Yosuke Nishi.

Just last month, Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) Corp. achieved its 10,000th unit accumulated sales milestone after launching its operations in the country in 2019.

The milestone was achieved despite the ongoing pandemic.

“Of course, the pandemic is not something we can control. We’ll see how it goes. But I think the situation is getting better and better when it comes to pandemic. I don’t think what I just said when it comes to sales volume plan this year is going to be adversely affected,” Kiyofuji said.

Within three years since SGAP’s launch, the Geely has become part of the top 10 automotive brands in the country.

“Our role is to take SGAP to the next level and become one of top five brands by 2025 by expanding our dealer network, as well as providing the value-added services to the customer,” he said.

To achieve the goal, he said the company would offer innovative vehicles that the market needs, on top of the facelift or specs change of the existing ones.

In terms of dealership expansion, he said SGAP is looking to increase the total count to 40 this year from the current 27.

He said SGAP would also work on improving customer satisfaction, particularly in terms of after-sales.

“So once we continue to exert effort on these three things: product, dealer network and after-sales, customer satisfaction, automatically our mid-term goal will be achieved,” he said.
