Toyota to roll out hybrid RAV4 model next month
MANILA, Philippines — Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) is expanding its hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) lineup by bringing the hybrid RAV4 to the local market next month.
In a statement, TMP said it would introduce the hybrid variant of the iconic sports utility vehicle in February.
TMP’s HEV technology uses both a gasoline engine and a self-charging electric motor.
The technology allows fuel efficiency and fewer emissions.
Aside from the self-charging hybrid technology, the new RAV4 is expected to carry innovation, technology and advanced features.
The hybrid RAV4 variant is expected to be priced at P2.157 million.
After the rollout of the RAV4 hybrid variant, TMP will have a total of five models under its HEV lineup.
Last month, TMP launched the new Camry HEV for the luxury sedan segment.
Aside from the Camry HEV, TMP’s other hybrid models are the Prius, Corolla Altis HEV and Corolla Cross HEV.
Sherwin Chualim, first vice president for vehicle sales operations at TMP, said the firm’s HEV model introductions show the local market’s readiness for hybrid cars.
“The rapid succession of Toyota’s HEV model introductions in the country is an indicator that hybrid cars are now mainstream. Filipinos are ready for energy efficient mobility options with less emissions, and hybrids offer choices that are practical and ready to use in our existing infrastructure and road conditions,” he said.
TMP’s dealerships will start accepting reservations for the RAV4 HEV tomorrow, Jan. 17.
