Globe launches new store concept

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom Inc. has launched a new store concept that combines its traditional brick-and-mortar stores with a digital retail format.

Called Shop & Pay, the hybrid offering is a one-stop shop for all of Globe’s essential products and services.

Globe intends to open 11 Shop & Pay stores this year.

“It’s actually a very fast rollout because it’s very scalable and very accessible. Compared to our traditional formats that will take two to three months to build, we can build it in 15 days and can be accessed immediately by customers,” Globe’s head of retail design and portfolio growth Mic Coson said.

Globe said its Shop & Pay digital kiosks would help address customer hesitancy to visit and transact in physical stores.

Instead, customers can use a digital touchscreen display in purchasing products and availing services.

QR codes can be scanned, leading to online shops for payment and delivery requests.

Globe said there are also vending machines in the Shop & Pay kiosks for bills payment, GCash cash-in, load top-up, or buying prepaid call cards and SIM cards.

“Globe provides today’s life-enabling essentials packaged in a reinvented retail experience centered on customer care and safety. With the pandemic and the growing adoption of digital technologies, we saw a big opportunity to mix online and on-ground retail experience for our customers,” said Bernie Llamzon, Globe EVP  for channel management.
