Cebu Pac hurdles operational safety audit

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Cebu Pacific has passed anew the International Air Transport Association’s Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), signifying the carrier’s full compliance with stringent global aviation safety standard.

Cebu Pacific first joined IATA, the trade association for the global airline industry, in 2019 and was also able to achieve full compliance with the IOSA.

The IOSA Audit involves the highest level of safety practices in accordance with global aviation standards to deliver the best experience for its passengers.

It audits operational management and control systems covering organization management and control system, flight operations, dispatch, cabin, ground handling, cargo, maintenance and security.

Cebu Pacific said the airline has continuously invested in various technologies to enhance its risk management capabilities, on top of making its operations more efficient.

“We are fully aware that now more than ever, safety is ‘everyjuan’s’ topmost concern. We in Cebu Pacific continue to prioritize this and have made sure our protocols and policies meet IOSA standards as it is the recognized benchmark for airline safety across the globe,” said Manny Ilagan, vice president for safety, quality, and security at Cebu Pacific.

Cebu Pacific is IATA’s largest member among Philippine carriers as of last year, with 51 percent domestic passenger volume and 53 percent total domestic cargo.

The airline currently operates the widest domestic network in the Philippines covering 31 destinations, on top of its eight international destinations.

The company’s 74-strong fleet, one of the youngest in the world, includes two dedicated ATR freighters and one A330 freighter.
