Insurance marketplace eyes OFWs

MANILA, Philippines — Kwik.insure, the country’s largest insurance marketplace, is set to serve the insurance needs of over 12 million Filipinos abroad with the addition of a new partner.

The local insurance technology startup has teamed up with Starr Insurance Philippines to further democratize access to insurance by simplifying process for overseas Filipino workers (OFW).

Through the partnership, OFWs can now purchase insurance policies health, accident, COVID-19, and vehicle insurance policies for themselves or their loved ones in the Philippines.

“Since we launched the Kwik.insure platform in March, we saw that there is significant traffic coming from Filipinos abroad. Recognizing the demand from our modern-day heroes, we partnered with Starr Insurance Philippines to further democratize the access to insurance, especially for our OFWs,” Kwik.insure founder and CEO Hamilton Angluben said.

OFWs typically need to come to the country before they can avail of insurance policies.

With the partnership with Starr Insurance Philippines, Kwik.insure said OFWs simply have to log in to the insurance platform.

Payments can be made through debit and credit cards, e-wallets, and other payment channels.

“We have opened up our platform to provide protection to themselves and to their loved ones. We are happy to partner with Starr Insurance in offering innovative products for our dear kababayans abroad,” Angluben said.

“With the support of Kwik.insure, we’re heading in the right direction by simplifying the purchase journey for clients online which is a valuable step in bridging the insurance gap among Filipinos both here and abroad,” Starr Insurance Philippines country manager Derick Narvacan said.

Kwik.insure was launched last March with over 100 life and non-life insurance products from more than a dozen of the country’s top insurance and healthcare providers.
