Customs surpasses April collection target
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs announced that its collections in April exceeded the target by P2 billion on increased revenue from collection districts.
The agency said it collected P51.277 billion in April, higher than the P49.200 billion target.
Based on the preliminary report from the BOC-Financial Service, 11 out of the 17 collection districts surpassed its April 2021 collection target.
These were the ports of San Fernando, Manila, Manila International Container Port, Iloilo, Tacloban, Surigao, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, Aparri and Limay.
Since January 2021, the bureau consistently exceeded its monthly revenue collection target.
From January to April, the bureau said it collected P200.46 billion against a collection target of P183.17 billion, resulting in a running surplus of P17.29 billion.
The latest collection figure also includes additional revenues from the Tax Expenditure Fund and post-clearance audit operations conducted to ensure the proper valuation and taxation of imports.
Collection in the first four months of the year was also higher by 11.5 percent compared to last year’s level.
“The bureau continues to improve its efficient collection performance through the improvement in volume of importation while maintaining border security and enhanced trade facilitation,” said Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero in a statement.
