Tech graduates in high demand in jobs market

MANILA, Philippines — Demand for tech professionals and web developers has increased significantly amid the coronavirus pandemic, Makati-based IT school iAcademy said.

Bennett Tanyag, iAcademy’s web development program chair, said traditional businesses and/or small players have realized the need to digitize their services and create a presence online to survive in these challenging times.

He said this has resulted in the boom in demand for web developers to create, design and maintain websites for businesses across different industries.

According to companies in the software industry, only 55 percent of the computing talent demand is being met. This deficit is even expected to increase within the next few years unless more people are trained in the field of computing and web development, iAcademy said.

As of March, there were over 12,000 jobs available in the Philippines according to jobstreet.com that were looking for IT specialists, software engineers and web developers.
