Dito sets commercial launch in 15 areas

MANILA, Philippines — Dito Telecommunity Corp. of Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy and state owned China Telecommunications will launch commercially its services in 15 areas in Metro Cebu and Metro Davao on March 8.

For Metro Cebu, the areas are Carcar, Cebu City, Consolacion, Danao, Liloan, Mandaue, Minglanilla, Naga, San Fernando and Talisay.

Meanwhile, the areas included in Metro Davao are Panabo, Tagum, Carmen, Davao City and Digos.

The telco is expected to have 10 to 20 physical point of sale ready by next week to serve customers in Visayas and Mindanao.

“Dito Telecommunity has conducted a national rollout of its network and is already ready,” the company said in a statement yesterday.

“However, commercial activities of Dito beginning March 8 shall be in key areas in Visayas and Mindanao and will eventually make its way to the rest of the country in just a couple of months,” it said.

Dito’s services are targeted to be commercially available nationwide by the second quarter.

As part of the issuance of its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity in July 2019, Dito was mandated to deliver its commitments of 37.03 percent national population coverage with a minimum average broadband speed of 27 Mbps in its first year of operation.

The company was able to pass its first audit, with its minimum average broadband speed recorded at 85.9 Mbps for 4G and 507.5 Mbps for 5G, and first year national population coverage of 37.48 percent.

Dito subscribers will have the following mobile number prefixes: 0991, 0992, 0993, 0994, 0898, 0897, 0895, and 0896.
