UK-based Tento Health adopts Multisys technology

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A pandemic mitigation software technology developed by PLDT-backed Multisys Technologies Corp. has captured the interest of UK-based digital health and diagnostics technology provider Tento Health, which has invested $4 million to adopt the technology and launch its own similar-type platform called Tento Safe.

The pandemic mitigation software technology adopted by Tento Health is the same technology used in the country’s contact tracing platform, StaySafe.ph.

“This project is a testament that we, Filipinos, can. Our goal to champion Filipino tech ingenuity has driven us to ramp up our expansion efforts abroad,” Multisys CEO and founder David Almirol said.

“Moreover, this collaboration with Tento Health does not only showcase the expertise of our local IT talents, but also enable us to serve more enterprises of different sizes in the world to support them, especially now in the changing times,” Almirol said.

Tento Health is a healthcare technology company based in the UK that provides accessible, easy-to-use, and secure health solutions to over 30 countries and more than 600 cities around the world.

The UK-based company invested $4 million to acquire the technology behind its new platform, Tento Safe, which offers a contact track and trace solution to help manage the spread of COVID-19, as well as aid governments and businesses for post-pandemic preparations.

“We are so excited to announce our partnership with one of Asia’s leading software solutions companies, Multisys, to expand our current roster of solutions,” Tento Health co-CEO Adam Palmer said.

“Multisys has been exceptionally agile, professional and proficient in their expertise and in the work that they have delivered – which is exactly what we all need today. Through this technology, Tento Safe is currently helping governments and corporations save lives,” Palmer said.

Multisys enjoys a synergistic partnership with PLDT, as the latter invested P2.15 billion in the company in 2018.  The investment resulted to the telco giant owning a total equity stake of 45.73 percent in the software firm.

The company earlier this month announced that it has taken steps to allay data privacy concerns and alleviate public reluctance in its contact tracing application StaySafe.ph.

Multisys said the current version now runs without the GPS and Bluetooth-enabled contact tracing features, ensuring zero surveillance in the app.

It has also enhanced the app’s QR code security to remove possible data exposure.

To date, Multisys said StaySafe.ph has over eight million users from both mobile app, web app, and smartphone camera QR scanning.

More than 700 local government units and over 100,000 companies and establishments have also adopted its built-in digital logbook and QR code scanning features to protect their employees, visitors, and customers.

This provides an efficient way to replace the manual logging of visitors’ health check, which requires the use of pen and paper that can potentially transmit the virus.
