Manila Water signs deal for Nueva Ecija project

MANILA, Philippines — Ayala-led Manila Water Co. Inc. has inked a joint venture agreement for the management of the water supply system and sanitation facilities in San Jose City in Nueva Ecija.

In a regulatory filing, the water utility said it recently signed and executed a JVA with the San Jose City Water District.

It was done through the consortium with wholly owned subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc. and Tubig Pilipinas Group Inc.

The agreement covers the design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, operation, financing, expansion and management of the water supply and sanitation facilities and services in San Jose City.

The consortium will implement the project, including the right to bill and collect tariff for water and sanitation services supplied in the service area.

It was in December 2018 when Manila Water was awarded the contract to manage the bulk water supply and wastewater services in the area.

The project has an estimated capital expenditure of more than P1.4 billion over a 25-year contract period.

It is expected to deliver a billed volume of 21 million liters per day by 2043.

Manila Water covers the east zone which encompasses parts of Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marikina, most parts of Quezon City, portions of Manila as well as several towns in Rizal.

The company operates three other subsidiaries – Laguna AAA Water Corp., Boracay Island Water and Clark Water Corp.
