MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) recently donated 10,000 antibody testing and 50 COVID-19 testing booths to the local government of Mandaluyong City in line with its COVID-19 response efforts.

In a statement, NGCP said it made the donation of the 10,000 ECLIA-based (Enhanced chemiluminescence immunoassay) antibody testing on Aug. 20.

ECLIA-based testing has a 99.81 percent clinical specificity, thereby producing more accurate results.

“We believe that COVID-19 testing is part of the new normal. Through the donation of these test booths and test kits, we are able to contribute to the COVID-19 response efforts of our country, one LGU at a time,” NGCP said.

The company has also donated 10,000 COVID-19 ECLIA-based antibody testing and 50 testing booths to the Quezon City government, and another 500 test kits to Navotas City.

NGCP said the donations are part of its P1 billion donation to help in the fight against the pandemic.

The power grid operator also turned over recently one ambulance unit each to the Rizal Medical Center, San Lazaro Hospital, Ospital ng Sampaloc and Siargao District Hospital in August.

“This is in addition to the ambulances donated to the Philippine General Hospital, Philippine Orthopedic Center, Philippine Heart Center, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, and Biñan Doctors Hospital last July 05,” NGCP said.

The company donated medical equipment and supplies such as mechanical ventilators, ultrasound machines, x-ray machines, RT-PCR machines, SteraMist systems, hazmat suits, face masks, face shields, and other personal protective equipment (PPEs), sanitizers, disinfectants, and non-contact thermometers to more than 300 hospitals around the country.

NGCP also donated P10 million to Project ARK, a pooled COVID testing initiative in partnership with local government units in Metro Manila.

Other NGCP COVID-19 response and relief projects currently in the works include the donation of four donning and doffing chambers and five isolation rooms to several government hospitals.

“NGCP’s service to the country does not end with quality transmission services. In the spirit of bayanihan, we are continuously looking for ways to help our nation fight and overcome this unprecedented global health crisis,” the company said.

The company also engaged in grocery distribution to 1,028 LGUs across the country and other initiatives such as Meals on Wheels, a hot meals feeding program for indigent communities; and a P5-million donation to Project Ugnayan, which distributes supermarket vouchers to economically displaced families in Metro Manila.

NGCP is a Filipino-led, privately owned company in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the country’s power grid.
