Holcim restarts operations

Iris Gonzales - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Holcim Philippines Inc. has restarted its operations with safety protocols in all its sites nationwide.

In a statement, Holcim said it reopened its plants and terminals in La Union, Bulacan, Manila, Batangas and Davao following the easing by national and local governments of the quarantine imposed last March 15.

Holcim Philippines president and chief executive officer John Stull said the company has completed health and safety controls against the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 to protect its stakeholders.

“We are ready to continue supporting our partners nationwide as they build important structures and contribute to reinvigorating the economy,” Stull said.

Stull assured stakeholders that the company’s facilities are in good condition and ready to ramp up operations to provide reliable supply as building and economic activity recovers.

Holcim Philippines installed new health facilities and rolled out safety protocols focused on social distancing, proper sanitation and hygiene and health monitoring at its sites during the COVID-19 quarantine period.

The listed cement firm is a member of the LafargeHolcim Group, the world leader in the building materials industry present in 80 countries with over 75,000 employees.

Diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp. last year made a pitch to buy Holcim Philippines, but backed out after it faced hurdles from the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC).
