MANILA, Philippines — Grab is going full blast with an on- demand grocery service to help deliver essential needs as people are encour- aged to stay at home.

With the limitations and restrictions due to the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, Grab said it is providing a solution that makes buying of basic necessities easier despite the enhanced community quarantine.

GrabMart is one of the few app-based grocery services that offers on-demand delivery, which means orders are expect- ed to be delivered as fast as 30 minutes.

Through GrabMart, users can pur- chase grocery items, personal care prod- ucts, and soon, even medicines.

GrabMart service is in partnership with Robinsons Supermarket, Great Deals Ecommerce Corp, FamilyMart, Starbucks at Home, ASSI Fresh Plaza, Barcino, Fetch! Naturals, and Dog City.

“With the launch of GrabMart, we are hoping to further serve Filipinos during this trying time,” Grab Philippines coun- try marketing head RJ Cabaluna said.

“Aligned with our community-wide GrabBayanihan COVID-19 response, GrabMart helps not only consumers who need access to daily essentials, but also our delivery-partners and merchant-partners whose livelihood and businesses have been affected by the situation,” Cabaluna said.

Grab said the service is currently available in select areas of Quezon City, Pasig, Manila, Mandaluyong, Makati, San Juan, Valenzuela, Paranaque, and Taguig.

It said plans are in place to expand to more locations within Metro Manila in the coming weeks.

According to Grab, delivery fee dur- ing the beta period ranges from as low as P89 to P149 based on distance to the store, with a minimal service fee of P30 applicable for all orders.

Similar to GrabFood and GrabEx- press, the firm said cash payment is still available, but users are encouraged to pay via GrabPay and practice contact- less delivery for safer payments and transactions.
