Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Broadcast giants ABS-CBN and GMA continue to slug it out for ratings supremacy, as both networks claimed to have topped nationwide ratings last month.

Based on data from global audience measurement provider Kantar Media, ABS-CBN said it sustained its nationwide ratings lead in February, with an audience share of 39 percent compared to GMA’s 33 percent.

The network also kept its stronghold of primetime (6 p.m. to 12 midnight), earning a 43 percent share versus GMA’s 33 percent.

Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100 percent of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

Using data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, GMA said it maintained its leadership in TV ratings nationwide last month as it continued to expand its viewership advantage in key urban areas, which now include Urban Visayas.

GMA said it remained victorious in the National Urban Television Audience Measurement with a 35.2 percent average total day people audience share, outscoring ABS-CBN’s 32.1 percent.

GMA ruled in the viewer-rich areas of Urban Luzon and Mega Manila where it recorded a 37.2 percent and 38.1 percent average total day people audience share, respectively.

The network has also now clinched the ratings lead in Urban Visayas with a 35.7 percent average total day people audience share versus ABS-CBN’s 34.1 percent.
