MANILA, Philippines — Asia’s real estate giant CapitaLand and subsidiary The Ascott Ltd. brings the serviced residence concept to Iloilo with a brand that aligns with the festive character of the center of growth in Western Visayas.

Citadines Amigo Iloilo is the latest development in Iloilo City which has flourished exponentially in the past decade as the country’s new investment hotspot. The economic growth is spurred by the city’s geographic centrality, cultural and heritage attractions, and a number of growing industries, among which are the agri- business sector; IT-BPM; and meetings, incentive, conventions, and exhibitions, or MICE market, to name a few.

According to Daniel Wee, country general manager of The Ascott Ltd. Philippines, Ascott is the largest international hospitality company in the Philippines with 25 properties, nine of which are operational and the rest to open soon. The company offers 4,300 units across key cities in the country, such as Metro Manila, Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo.

Wee said that Ascott has an average occupancy rate of close to 80 percent under its award-winning brands, namely, Ascott, Citadines, and Somerset, adding that the company is only set to grow stronger in the coming years.

Located at Iloilo City proper, Citadines Amigo Iloilo will present 121 rooms and complete facilities, including function rooms, fitness center, swimming pool, and all- day dining restaurant. The design and services of the new property will be inspired by local influences, a key trait of the Citadines identity.

Citadines is originally from France, and was acquired by Ascott in 2002. Since then, the global portfolio of Citadines has grown more than threefold, becoming Ascott’s fastest growing brand.
