Customs collections hit P555 billion, lower than target in 11 months
MANILA, Philippines — With less than a month before 2019 ends, the Bureau of Customs has to double its collection effort as its revenue fell short by at least P122 billion of the P677 billion target for the year.
According to data obtained by The STAR, BOC revenue from its 17 collection districts, Tax Expenditures Fund (TEF) and the Post Clearance Audit Group (PCAG) amounted to P555 billion from January to Nov. 13.
The amount, however, was P27 billion short of the P582 billion collection target for the 11-month period.
The collection districts of BOC are located in San Fernando, Port of Manila, MICP, NAIA, Batangas, Legaspi, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Surigao, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, Clark, Appari and Limay.
For Nov. 1 to 13 alone, BOC record showed that it has collected P19.256 billion, P5.108 billion short of the P24.365 billion target for the same period.
The BOC has reported an average daily collection of P2.407 billion during the review period, which is P1.207 billion short of the daily target of P4 billion.
