Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Flag carrier Philippine Airlines is boosting its network in Mindanao with the launch of a Zamboanga-Tawi-Tawi service by December.

PAL said it would open a brand new daily service between Zamboanga and Tawi-Tawi on Dec. 15 in response to calls for air connectivity between the “City of Flowers” (Zamboanga) and the “Southernmost island province” (Tawi-Tawi).

PAL said it would also begin on the same day brand new services from Cebu to Zamboanga.

PAL currently operates direct flights to Zamboanga from Manila.

“With the new services in place by Dec. 15, travelers can conveniently connect across the Manila - Zamboanga -Tawi-Tawi and Cebu - Zamboanga - Tawi-Tawi routes,” the carrier said.

PR 2485 will depart Zamboanga daily at 8 a.m. and will arrive in Tawi -Tawi at 9:30 a.m., while PR 2486 will leave Tawi-Tawi daily at 10 a.m. and will touch down in Zamboanga at 11:30 a.m.

For the holiday season, the flag carrier earlier announced that it would be increasing the capacity of its daily service between Manila and Guam to accommodate higher demand.

PAL will operate A330 flights from Dec. 15 to Jan. 13, 2020, every Sunday and Friday from Manila and every Monday and Saturday from Guam. For the rest of the week, it will utilize the 199-seater narrow-body A321.

PAL, the country’s only four-star global airline, has a network covering more than 30 domestic and 40 international destinations with a young fleet of 98 advanced-technology aircraft.
