CGBP launches certification course for compliance officers

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — As the Revised Corporation Code that took effect on Feb. 23, 2019 mandates corporation vested with public interest to elect a compliance officer, this opens a career path in an organization with a rank of senior vice president, a separate position from the corporate secretary, based on Section 1.6 of the Code of Corporate Governance for Publicly-Listed Corporations.

To equip compliance officers with the necessary skills to succeed in an environment of stricter regulations, the Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) will host a pioneering program titled “Certification Course for Compliance Officers.”  Module 1 will be held on Oct. 24 and 25 and Module 2 on Nov. 6 and 7 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Resorts World Complex, Pasay City.

In a stricter regulatory environment, organizations value a skilled compliance officer. Build a career in this area of practice by being part of the pioneering batch of certified compliance officers. This two-module program is aimed at accelerating the knowledge and skills of all compliance officers – whether they are tenured, new to the job or aspiring to become one.

This highly specialized program will feature Atty. Danny Espejo Bunyi, a compliance officer certified by the American Academy of Financial Management. He is a senior partner at Divina Law.

This training will also feature Atty. Justina Callangan, who recently retired as director of the Corporate Governance and Finance Department at the Securities and Exchange Commission. Her responsibilities included supervision of all Philippine corporations to ensure all organizations registered with the SEC abide by its governing laws, its rules and regulations and corporate governance compliance.
