Meralco gets top performer rating from Asean scorecard
MANILA, Philippines — In recognition of its commitment towards good corporate governance and responsible management practices, Meralco was named Top Performer under the Asean Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS).
It was awarded a four-arrow recognition by the Institute of Corporate Directors during the ACGS Golden Arrow Recognition Ceremony last June 11 at the Conrad Manila, Pasay City.
The Golden Arrow recognition was given to the top-performing publicly-listed companies as reflected in their ACGS score from ICD’s 2018 domestic assessment. Meralco was among only six companies in the Philippines to receive a four-arrow recognition.
William Pamintuan, vice president and head of legal and corporate governance at Meralco, was present to accept the award.
Alfredo Pascual, chief executive officer for ICD, congratulated the top-performing PLCs and encouraged them to continue developing excellent corporate governance programs and practices for the benefit of the investors, stakeholders, and the country.
Emilio Aquino, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission graced the celebration as the keynote speaker.
The night was a celebration of the achievements of publicly-listed companies and insurance firms in embracing and promoting a culture of good corporate governance.
